KINDERGARTEN
OVERVIEW
TITLE: It's Your Responsibility CONCEPT: Responsibility INSTRUCTIONAL
TIME: 45 Minutes
Kindergarten students begin to better understand what it means to be responsible
not only in their own lives, but also around dogs. They are introduced to four
(4) dog behaviors and by showing responsibility they help Bingo get his four (4)
spots back.
The song "Bingo" helps remind them that it is 'their responsibility
to know just what to do' when a familiar dog comes near. Coloring books are sent
home for review along with a parent note and extension activities are done by
the classroom teacher. |
FIRST
GRADE OVERVIEW
TITLE: Your Choices Matter CONCEPT: Choice and Consequences INSTRUCTIONAL
TIME: 60 Minutes
First grade students identify the four basic dog behaviors, but are also introduced
to the protective and in-control dog. Students help Bingo get out of 'doggie prison'
by making good choices around dogs they know.
The song "Bingo" helps remind them that 'their choices matter.' Coloring
books are sent home for practice along with a parent note and extension activities
are done by the classroom teacher.

GRADE OVERVIEW
TITLE: Bingo Wasn't Mad CONCEPT: Prevention INSTRUCTIONAL TIME: 60 Minutes
Second grade students are additionally introduced to the alert dog. Using a stop-
light strategy they learn to slow down and look with caution. They begin to understand
the importance of attentiveness when near both familiar and unfamiliar dogs and
by showing cooperation, they help Bingo get his toy balls back. The song "Bingo"
reminds them that they need to 'always slow down, look for danger signs, then
stop and use their minds.' Coloring books are sent home for practice along with
a parent note and extension activities are completed by the classroom teacher. |
THIRD
GRADE OVERVIEW
TITLE: Bingo Deserves/Demands Respect CONCEPT: Respect INSTRUCTIONAL TIME:
60 Minutes
Third graders begin to truly understand the term 'respect' as it applies to people
and their interactions with both familiar and unfamiliar dogs. Learners
explore dog FACTS AND MYTHS and are exposed to statistics They are introduced
to higher level vocabulary about dog behaviors and they sing a song that tells
them 'dogs demand respect with teeth we can't neglect.'
Myth and fact cards are sent home for practice and sharing along with a parent
note. Extension activities are completed in class. |
