Lesson Design & Components

The book of lessons and activities entitled "Bingo Did Not Mean to Bite" is a powerful tool that can be utilized by classroom educators, humane educators, health educators, dog industry professionals and parents. Not only do the lessons teach the main components of dog bite prevention, they are uniquely different in the following ways:

Lessons were designed using a proven and widely accepted instructional model. The 4MAT MODEL, designed by Dr. Bernice McCarthy, is sweeping the country and fast becoming known as a model that not only motivates learners with meaningful connections, but takes them through a cycle of alternating left and right brain activities - thus engaging all students in the core elements of learning.

The model begins with a right brain activity - connecting learners to a concept. Once engaged learners continue with each step until the crucial act of performance is reached.

To attain more information on this model, go to Aboutlearning.com

Each lesson introduces or re-introduces learners to 'Bingo'. Presentations and materials are varied, yet age appropriate. Students at each grade level are left with a special song that relates to the concept being taught. These songs, sung to the tune of 'B-I-N-G-O' are highly inspirational.

Lessons are interactive and encourage critical thinking. All lessons meet Illinois educational learning standards and provide educators with an exciting avenue for meeting further standards.

Lessons empower learners with more than just knowledge. Kindergarten students gain a better understanding of RESPONSIBILITY. First grade students begin to recognize the importance of making GOOD CHOICES. Second grade learners understand that by slowing down and stopping to think, negative consequences can be PREVENTED. Finally, third graders gain a better understanding of the term RESPECT and its importance in respect to dogs and other life related conditions.

Lessons are easy to follow and implement.
